Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro 7 Days Machame Route nicknamed the “Whiskey” route because the route is popularized as somewhat difficult and costlier than the Marangu route. On an overall comparison of the routes to scale Kilimanjaro, this is often one among the simplest routes to require, both in terms of acclimatization and price. In certain sections, this route is steeper than the Marangu and Rongai routes and physically more demanding but is simpler overall.

The route approaches Kilimanjaro from the south, beginning with a brief drive from Moshi to Machame Gate. the trail leads hikers through the rain forest to Shira Plateau. Here, many of Kilimanjaro’s routes converge. Then the route turns east and traverses underneath Kilimanjaro’s Southern ice mass on a path referred to as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. The descent is formed via the Mweka route.

Great for acclimatization with many walk high, sleep low opportunities
