Maasai Mara is perhaps best known for the Great Migration which takes place every year from late June to October/November. During these months the yellow savannah is dotted black by more than 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra, and antelopes that migrate from the Serengeti to the Mara in search of food and water. Maasai villages are located in these areas and they have, over centuries, developed a synergetic relationship with the wildlife. We make sure you have unlimited game viewing opportunities!

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara National Game Reserve

You will be picked up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi Hotel, or your residence by our representative who will brief you on your safari program before handing you over to your guide who will be with you throughout your safari.

Today you drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve with a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley view point where you will have a chance to take photos with a great view of the valley. You will arrive at Loyk Mara Camp in time for lunch and relaxation before embarking on an afternoon game drive till dusk.

Imagine seeing all this incredible beauty around you. This is what you get when you stay at Loyk Mara Luxury Camp at any time of the year.
Complete with unforgettable sensations from staying in the heart of the wildlife you get the sense of privacy and peace and the service on the highest professional level.

Day 2: Amazing Game Viewing Opportunities

After your breakfast today, you will depart for the whole day game drive in the vast Masai Mara National Game Reserve with picnic lunch boxes being served out in the wild. This is the best way of having your meal surrounded by the beauty around you.

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will have a chance to see all the “Big Five” and other wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, many kinds of antelopes and so much more.

It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) to Masai Mara (Kenya) in search of water and pasture.
Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures.

Day 3: Breathtaking Safari Photography Opportunities

Today you will spend another eventful day at Masai Mara Game Reserve, you may opt to go for a morning and afternoon game drive or depart with picnic lunch boxes for another full-day game viewing. The Maasai Mara is arguably Kenya’s most popular game reserve.

It is the most famous and most visited game reserve in Kenya. The film “Out of Africa” was made to a great extent in this sanctuary. Some of the exciting activities at the camp that you can engage in today, include archery, billiards, bonfire, swimming pool, nature walk, sunrise & sun-downer, game watching at Eagle Nest View Point, bird watching, balloon safari, Open Air Cinemas & kids adventure club.

Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot air Balloon at an extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing abundant games afloat a balloon is an unforgettable experience.

Day 4: Highlights of Masai Mara Game Reserve

After breakfast at the camp, bid farewell to the Masai Mara as you set on your journey back to Nairobi. Drive back down the Great Rift Valley to Nairobi, passing the dormant volcano, Mount Longonot on the way.

Keep an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle and head up the escarpment. You will arrive in Kenya’s bustling capital city Nairobi in the early afternoon where you will have a chance to do some last-minute shopping before being transferred to the Jomo Kenyatta International airport or your hotel in Nairobi.

Maasai Mara is one of the most famous and important wildlife conservation and wilderness areas in Africa, world-renowned for its exceptional populations of lion, African leopard, cheetah, and African bush elephant.

The long cool-dry season from July to October is considered by most to be the best time of year to visit Masai Mara but also the costliest season too. The absence of rain means that the flora is less dense, so animals are easier to observe. Additionally, insect levels, including mosquitoes, are lower during the dry season.

In terms of wildlife density, Masai Mara is better for game viewing. Although Serengeti boasts massive wildlife populations the wildlife is spread across a far larger area because the park is so much bigger than Masai Mara.
