In Materuni, the Chagga tribe lives in an authentic tribal village. It is located 15km from Moshi Town and is the last village before the Kilimanjaro National Park.

Our English-speaking guide will pick you up in Moshi in the morning, and drive you to Materuni Village. As soon as you arrive, you will register at the village office and your trip will begin.

Your first stop will be the waterfalls, a 40-minute walk away. During the tour, your guide will tell you about Chagga culture, village life, and the surrounding fauna and flora. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to see the summit of

Kilimanjaro climbed. The waterfalls are over 80 meters high when you reach them. You can enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall, so don’t forget your swimsuit!

With your guide, you will slowly return to Materuni village, where you will enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch. You also will have the opportunity to taste our local banana beer – definitely not to be missed!

However, that’s not all. After that, you’ll enjoy a cup of coffee. You will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted, and further processed here. You will also have the chance to participate in the process.

An opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture is the grinding of coffee, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances. Before you say goodbye and return in the

On the way back to Moshi, you can savor the coffee you made and admire the surrounding rainforest.
