Mt Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is a majestic stratovolcano located in northeastern Tanzania, near the border with Kenya. Standing at an impressive 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level, it proudly holds the title of the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain on Earth, meaning it is not part of a wider mountain range. The massif is composed of three distinct volcanic cones: Shira, Mawenzi, and the prominent, snow-capped Kibo. While Shira and Mawenzi are entirely extinct, Kibo is classified as a dormant volcano that could theoretically erupt again in the future. 

Rising dramatically above the surrounding African savannah, Kilimanjaro acts as a climate simulator. As climbers ascend to its highest point, Uhuru Peak, they journey through five completely different ecological zones. This trek transitions from lush tropical rainforests filled with unique wildlife to alpine deserts, and finally to an arctic summit dominated by massive, ancient glacial fields. Because it requires no technical climbing skills or specialized mountaineering gear, it attracts tens of thousands of adventurers every year, making it one of the most accessible members of the global Seven Summits.
